Controls for Instagram Videos

Note: The functionality to remember volume and playback speed is not currently working for most videos. It will be fixed in a future version.

Extension Config

Remember Video Volume Level

If you enable this option, then when you change the volume of a video it will be remembered and used not only for videos you encounter in the future, but also for other videos currently in the same page (even if they're paused). You can adjust the volume either by using the control menu in the bottom-right corner of the video, or you can change it via a hotkey / shortcut.

Current Volume Level

The range is 0 to 1 (100%).

Volume Adjustment Step Size

When you use hotkeys to adjust the volume up or down, this setting determines how much the volume will change each time you press the hotkey. Recommended value is 0.1 or 0.2.

Remember Video Playback Rate

If you enable this option, then when you change the playback rate of a video it will be remembered and used not only for videos you encounter in the future, but also for other videos currently in the same page (even if they're paused). You can adjust the video playback speed either by using the control menu in the bottom-right corner of the video, or you can change it via a hotkey / shortcut.

Current Playback Rate

Normal speed is 1.0. The Video Playback Rate range of 0.125 to 4.0 is recommended.

Using values outside that range may not work at all, or you may not hear any audio. As of Nov 1st 2019, Chrome Version 80 seems to allow a range of 0.0625 to 16. The range that works may change in the future, and may change if you update hardware or drivers.

Playback Rate Adjustment Step Size

When you use hotkeys to adjust the playback rate up or down, this setting determines how much the rate will change each time you press the hotkey. Recommended value is either 0.125 or 0.25.

Note: the native video playback rate GUI controls in the bottom-right corner of videos uses a step size of 0.25, so if your current speed happens to be a multiple of 0.25, then the native GUI will show a checkmark next to your speed, which gives you an easy way to see what the current speed actually is. But if you don't care about that, then feel free to use any step size you like. Example:
