Upcoming features & changes

  • GUI buttons will sometimes shrink/expand to better fit a range of player widths. Currently, when the player is too narrow to fit buttons, a smaller size of buttons is used, and if there's still not enough room, then no buttons are installed. The new gradually-shrinking buttons will be able to shrink to size, helping give you the largest buttons possible in all cases, and better supporting the narrowest players by showing very small buttons, which is better than no buttons.
  • Support for adding GUI seek buttons to the Youtube Music player at music.youtube.com
  • Configurable hotkeys for all operations
  • Global hotkeys - chrome now allows up to 4 global hotkeys per browser extension. A global hotkey works even if the browser is minimized, or you're looking at your OS desktop, or even if you're using a totally different program, such as word. So, you can seek back and forth while using another program, without needing to bring your browser to the foreground.
  • Video playback time position memory. Basically, your playback position in the video is monitored to facilitate 2 use cases:
    1. If you accidentally click the time bar / scrubber, and don't know where in the video you were, you need to waste time seeking around to find and get back your location. To solve this, after a click, the extension will display a marker to show you your previous position for a moment, allowing you jump back to that location, if desired.
    2. The time position marker will also be displayed when you start playing a video, if you recently viewed that same video. This is useful in case you accidentally reload the page or navigate away. Youtube has a similar feature where it will remember your position if you click the back button within youtube, but not if you reload the page, nor if navigated outside youtube.com and back. This extension will cover all cases.
  • An optional 2nd style for the seek buttons that are added to the youtube player
